29/12/2009

Muddy field, stinky smell, and what not. The conditions that day were disappointing. And although, the Sembawang field was a touch place to play in, Smokers FC managed to beat the Alumni team with the score of 6-3.

The Alumni team consist of the ex-Unitians, mostly the graduates of the 2008 batch. The match started off with the opposition having majority of possession. Shortly after it had begun, Fadli from the other team managed to slip past the defenders, and force a ball past the goalkeeper, Yuwei.

A few minutes later, Pravin scored, opening the scoring account for Smokers FC.

As we were about to end the first half, a mistake by the goalkeeper allowed the other team to go into halfteam, leading with the score of 2-1.

During halftime, tactical change were made. Instead of playing the usual formations, the team opted for 4-4-2, with John shifting to left wing, and Fauzi playing upfront with Pravin.

The second half began, and our team was desperately looking for the equaliser, and indeed got it. Score at that time 2-2.

As the game went on, the defence failed to clear a highball, which resulted in the opposing team's favour.

And so this time, the team fought even harder and managed to find goals through Pravin, Fauzi and John. And thanks to Rusydi, Venoth for assisting them.

Special credits to Hafidz, who took over as goalkeeper later in the game.

Full time score - Smokers FC 6 - Alumni Team - 3
